Frequently Asked Questions

What is RIFF Maker?

I created RIFF Maker as an online tool to help me and others create, edit, and manage files in the RIFF (Resource Interchange File Format) format. Since riffpad wasn’t available on Mac, I built this tool in 6 hours one Thursday evening after work to fill that gap.

What file types are supported?

Right now, RIFF Maker only supports .riff files. I may add support for other file types in the future, but for now, .riff is the primary focus.

Is RIFF Maker free to use?

Yes, RIFF Maker is completely free to use, and I don’t plan on making a paid version at any point in the future. However, I might add some ads to help cover hosting and URL costs.

How can I support RIFF Maker?

The best way to support me is to share this site with other developers or anyone who might find it useful. The more people that use the site, the more support I can get via ads to keep the project running.

Why did you create RIFF Maker?

I built RIFF Maker because I needed a tool to handle RIFF files on my Mac, and existing tools like riffpad weren’t available for Mac users. Also, I wanted a fun evening project, so I put the first version together in 6 hours as a quick solution.

How do I report an issue or bug?

You can report any issues or bugs by emailing me at issue@onlinerifftools.co.uk. Please provide as much detail as possible, and I’ll do my best to address the issue quickly. However, please keep in mind that I have a full-time job and several hobbies, so fixes will be released as soon as I can find the time.

Who made Online Riff Tools?

Online Riff tools was created by David Taylor. You can find more of my work and connect with me on social media under the handle @davidtaylor6130. I also release code and projects under the umbrella of taylormadecodeTaylorMadeCode.

Does RIFF Maker run on a server?

No, RIFF Maker runs entirely locally on your machine. This means that none of your files are uploaded to a server, ensuring privacy and fast processing. All the work is done in your browser without needing any back-end processing.
